See “Scoring” for further information.

Bracketing/Scheduling

A mandatory riders' meeting will be held prior to the events to explain any peculiarities, markings and any local restrictions. Cut off times, information on scoring, start procedures, safety issues, etc. will also be announced.

The type of event will be as follows:

Two motos, 15 minutes per moto.

If air temperature is over 100 degrees F., motos will be 12 minutes.

Entries in any one moto are limited to a maximum 30 riders. If the number of riders in any class exceed the course limitations, the class may be divided into 5 year age increments and medals for each new class will be awarded 1st through 3rd place, or if necessary timed heats may be run.

A rider may not enter more than one age division in a class.

Scoring

Motos are scored per the Olympic system. In case of a tie, the winner shall be determined on the basis of the finish of the final moto. A white "time" flag shall be displayed when the leading rider arrives at the finish line following the elapse of the set time duration. An event is completed when the first rider completes one lap after receiving the white flag.

To be considered a finisher for the event or eligible for a medal, a rider must start all motos, complete at least 50% of the class winner's total laps for all the motos, and take the checkered flag in at least one moto. When crossing the finish line, a rider must ride, push or carry his/her motorcycle without assistance from anyone. The rider will then place according to his/her laps scored.

Unisex 3-Person Team

The four (4) best Individual event results count towards Team results. (Example: 1st place = 1 pt; 2nd place = 2 pts; 10th place = 10 pts.) The team with the lowest total points is the winning team. Each team member must contribute at least one score toward the Team event score; therefore, each team member must be entered in at least one Individual event. (The rider contributing two scores could theoretically have 1 point for winning the 250 cc Senior event, and 1 point for winning the 125 cc Open event). Team members may be in any cc class and be in any age category.

General Sport Rules for Motorcycle – Dirt Bike - Motocross

Motorcycles

All entrants must provide the motorcycle to be used in competition for inspection by the Referee. The inspection would determine that the motorcycle is "on-its-face" being entered in the proper class and that the motorcycle is in a safe condition. At the Sport Coordinator's discretion, any motorcycle or rider may be eliminated from competition for reasons of being hazardous to riders and/or spectators. The motorcycle must remain in “as teched” condition throughout the competition.

Machines shall be classified on a displacement basis, except ATV's.

Equipment is limited to manufacturer’s standard engine models as catalogued, with standard bore and stroke for that model, but allowing reboring up to plus .080" oversize. Motorcycles sold new with smaller displacement than the displacement class they must compete in (e.g. 175 cc must compete in the 250 cc class) may be increased in displacement up to the maximum limit for that class.

Missing or altered Vehicle Identification Numbers (V.I.N.) or engine numbers & letters shall cause the machine and rider to be ineligible to compete.

All motorcycles in all events must use exhaust mufflers or silencers with an approved spark arrester unless the sport site is a private, closed course which does not require mufflers and spark arresters. The throttle must be self-closing to the "dead engine" position. Kill Buttons are mandatory and must be operative.

Competitors may enter more that one cc class but must use different motorcycles to enter both classes. Competitors may not enter more that one age category within one cc class.

At the Host's discretion, any motorcycle or rider may be eliminated from competition for reasons of being hazardous to riders or spectators.

Only standard pump gasoline may be used unless race gas is provided or available at the track.

A riders' meeting will be held before the Motocross competition. All riders must attend or be ineligible to compete.

Protective Clothing

FIM approved helmets must be worn. Helmets should be inspected at the technical inspection. The Host has the right to deny entry due to inadequate equipment.

Boots must cover all of the leg exposed by the pants when in any position on the machine.

Rider Identification:

Motocross machines shall display three standard number plates. These must be mounted on the front forks and on both sides of the machine.

ATVs shall be identified by a minimum of one number plate on the front of the machine and the display of the rider's number on the left and right sides of the rider's helmet.

Each of the three number plates on each machine shall display the same number. Numbers will be assigned by the Host. The number plates will be black numbers on a white background.

Riders' numbers will be assigned as follows:

ATV 0 - 99

Open 100-199

Senior 200-299

Master 300-399

Grand Master 400-499

Assigned numbers will not be repeated in either age or displacement categories. Numbers will be the same size.

In case a competitor does not have a number plate or numbers, these items could be sold at the sport site. No pie plates allowed.

No rider is permitted to qualify more than one motorcycle for any Motocross event.

A rider cannot enter and ride the same motorcycle in more than one classification in the Motocross event.

A rider may enter more than one displacement class, as long as he/she uses a different bike for each class.

Motorcycles or ATVs used in the first moto must be used in the final moto.
