Salt Water Angling
All events are Unisex.
Individual
Individual medals will be awarded in each category representing a local species of saltwater fish selected by the Host. It is recommended that 2 species be judged plus the “heaviest bag.” This may vary depending on the species of saltwater fish prevalent in the area.
Team
2-Person Team medals will be awarded for “heaviest bag”. To be eligible to enter the Team event the competitor must also enter the Individual event. If a competitor does not have a partner, but wishes to enter the Team event, they may enter "pooling". (See WPFG General Rules).
General Sport Rules for Angling
Salt Water The following General Sport Rules are subject to modification to conform to local statutes. The catching of all fish, including size and type of bait, must comply with local statutes. If a fishing license is required, it will be the competitor's responsibility to obtain and display that license to the officials at venue Check in. All competitors will be supplied with a copy of the rules and relevant {sport} information with their Confirmation Letters.
Tackle
Competitors must supply their own fishing equipment. Landing net may be allowed for landing the fish.
Rules of competition
1) Each competitor must hook and land their own fish.
2) No bait traps of any description are permitted.
3) Wading may not be permitted in the water.
4) Any competitor having any dispute or grievance of any nature must submit the dispute or grievance to the Disputes Committee within thirty (30) minutes of disembarking.
5) Any competitor who is found to have breached any of the rules shall be subject to disqualification.
